Absolute BS, when was it in recent history acceptable for a computer
manufacturer to offer anything but the latest and most widely compatible
OS
BS
One month after XP was released, not one company had the option to buy
Win98.
If they did it was an older or refurbished machine.
purchase a system with Linux
That doesn't make any sense.
When a user put their trust in MS for so many years,
you say go Linux.
That proves that MS doesn't care about their customers
whether they are satisfied or not.

The most unfriendly operating system for the novice user.
You have to be a professional user, to run both home and pro.
What also worse, for the littlest problem, the computer
shuts down. Who is the stupid person that thought
shutting the computer down in the middle of your
work is a great idea.
Works perfect with MS Office, that thing never ran
right from day one, getting errors with office is a very
common thing, if you don't save your work, then you are
going to loose your work when the computer shuts down.
(Never ever had a shut-down or problems with Office)
I use to help people run their computer, I don't
do it no more, XP has so many bugs is unbelievable,
they make you a service pack, and the darn thing
fixes some bugs but adds big new bugs.
(Never caused any problems for me)
main rant snipped
Apparently another one who doesn't follow MS instructions, only
thinks he knows all, so goes his own merry way with installs,
upgrades & patches, then complains when things go wrong.
One question. Why are you still using XP??

Johnf,
Your contempt for "another one who doesn't follow MS instructions,"
and your lack of empathy are less than admirable. Your "follow MS
instructions" sounds a lot like "follow Saddam's instructions!"
Most folks don't ask for XP help because they selected XP of their
own free will. For new PC systems, XP is shoved down everyone's
throat by the Redmond regime's stranglehold on the OEMs. A new Dell
or Gatweay machine comes with Microsoft product EULAs that provide
users with fewer rights and less protection than most terrorists
enjoy.

as their main product? If anyone is so aggrieved with purchasing a
computer
with XP installed, they only have to go as far as their nearest Wall to
purchase a system with Linux installed or purchase a custom system from a
local vendor or build it themselves. The OEM's are in business to make a
profit and they will supply the product that will give the least volume of
support for the software they expect will be used on the supplied OS.
