1) If you try to use a single cartridge, it will tell you that you cannot.
This is because some magenta ink is always used to make the black look
'blacker'.

2) Ensure you have installed the new color cartridge correctly, removed any
tape etc. Check your printer manual for exact install instructions. If it
still comes back with an error, it may be a bad cartridge.
