Default XP SP2 IS THE WORST THING EVER

I guess being a new cumber has it advantages, for I haven't had a proplem
that couldn't be fixed. The only thing is it blocked some of my games, but
short of that WORKS GREAT

"They really do need to test these things properly"
SP-2 was possibly tested more than any other piece of software has in
the past.
Exactly what do you mean by the above statement?
How many windows XP computers in the world?
Now factor in that no two are identical.
How does Microsoft or anyone for that matter test something as big as
a Service Pack on all possible combinations?
Can not be done, impossible.

"I am an IT manager"
Really?
Then SP-2 should have had no surprises to you since your organization
has been testing SP-2 for at least several months to check for
compatibility issues.

"I am now thinking of not even bothering as it is more bother than it
is worth."
Fine, it is your computer.
But you make it sound like you are punishing Microsoft.
How is that?

"...that they may have non micro$oft software aswell on their
machine."
Nothing wrong with non Microsoft software as long as it is well
written.
For years software has been written taking advantage of what are now
vulnerabilities.
Microsoft has taken a big step and followed the demands of the IT
community to make Windows more secure.

Did you at least have a clean computer?
Was the computer ready for Windows XP?
Since your rant gave no details, it is impossible to know.

om...
I spent the night on the phone to Micro$oft for them to just fob me
off with almost (not our problem!) answers. They got me to install
SP2
twice and take it off twice and yet it still does not work. All it
does is reboot my machine after the welcome note comes up, if
Micro$oft think that this is sufficient then they should be very
much
mistaken. They really do need to test these things properly before
putting them into the population. I am now thinking of not even
bothering as it is more bother than it is worth. If there is any
permenant problems which have now been caused through there
inadequate
experienced staff, they will see a law suit hitting their doorstep
very shortly, or they will be required to get one of their "very
experienced" techie guys to sort out the problem, as I am an IT
manager and I have know idea what these cretins have concocted. I
was
amazed by the fob offs saying that it was not there problem it must
be
another program which is causing it, however I was only installing
SP2
everything else worked before.

All Micro$oft want is a monopoly and do not care about there users
and
that they may have non micro$oft software aswell on their machine.

Well I stick two fingers up at Micro$oft and will not be installing
SP2 until they have a finished piece of work
