Is the target server Windows?

I'm thinking the remote machine is UNIX of some sort. If it is, is SAMBA
running?


The remote server is a linux machine running a cups print server which
uses the IPP Protocol. To keep the system simple I don't want to use
samba if possible. It seems to me that XP is able to use the IPP
protocol for printing, including the possibility to use a specific
username and password. Isn't this possible without using samba?
