Just about any alternative is far superior to Paint. Paint has always
been terrible and remains so.


Irfanview is fantastic and free. It can do editing up to and
including one-key color, brightness, and contrast correction. It can
control a scanner for single images or multiple-image TIFFs, and can
save in many, many formats. It's also quite fast.
