Default F8 confusion

Linea,
The first F8 is a Boot menu from the BIOS you can choose BEFORE
The O/S starts to load. The second F8 shows you the Advanced Boot
Options menu in Windows 7. You cannot get to the second F8 until
the boot process starts. This can be tricky and may take a few
attempts. Try tapping the F8 key as soon as the BIOS Splash
screen disappears.

Yes, I guess I wasn't expecting a whole different option from the same F8
key just seconds apart. And timing is very tricky indeed...

The reason I got involved in all this is because of testing a bootable USB
stick. It seems to work OK but the boot priority setting in the BIOS seem
to change all by itself after removing the USB stick. I suppose they call
it a "feature"...

You'd think the makers of the PC would have chosen *any* key (F1, F2, Del)
other than F8 for going into the BIOS, since F8 is well-known as the way of
entering the Windows boot menu.

I wish all PC manufacturers would use the same key for the BIOS so you don't
have to press all the F keys, Del and Esc to try to find one which enters
the BIOS menu. At least some PCs say "Del = BIOS" etc on the BIOS splash
screen.
