Default Alternatives To Desktop Restore 6.x ?

Has anybody found something that works for them with two monitors ?

I don't have multiple monitors, but DesktopOK is supposed to work with
them and has been working well for me under Windows 7. I tried the
highly recommended ICU but gave up on it because it did exactly what you
pointed out. (For what it's worth, at the suggestion of someone in this
newsgroup, I checked the Desktop folder and found that the missing icons
were there; they "just" didn't show up on the Desktop, presumably having
been placed off-screen.)

Mention of multiple monitors with DesktopOK:

Per DesktopOK website
http://www.softwareok.com/?seite=Freeware/DesktopOK
"DesktopOK does not have to be installed and can be executed easily from
the desktop, and can be carried on a small usb-stick or other memory
device. Start the program. The first time that you use it the program it
will present you with a license screen. The program is free and the
license info is only displayed the first time (per PC)."
