Hello, all. I'd been using (albeit Russian) a Win7 gadget
"WeatherCenter" for several years without a hitch until about a month
or so ago. I'd been getting weather updates from
"theweathernetwork.com" but the gadget can also be configured to
connect to weather.com, accuweather.com, weatherunderground.com or
weatherbug.com. The gadget is now unable to establish connection
with any of these sites and it doesn't appear to be a firewall issue
on my end. Does anyone know how to get this gadget working again or
know of an alternate Win7 desktop gadget/widget that works? Thanks
for your time and comment.

If you can stream your local radio (or TV) you can probably get to
their weather forecast page, which will be at least as good as a
weather widget for local forecasts and may be better.

Thanks for the quick reply, but to be clear, I'm not seeking
alternatives to desktop gadgets/widgets. There's lots of places to get
local weather reports on the web; I liked the convenience of having an
auto-updating small display on my Win7 desktop with current temp,
humidity, wind speed, etc. Sincerely,

The only thing wrong with this article, is it's four years old,
and the landscape could have changed a lot in those four years.

You can use a win32 application, but it's a lot of extra work for
the developer to make such a program look like a "gadget" with
custom window masking. That's why the programs listed on that
web page are "rather rectangular".
