What's obsolete? Doesn't all software still support
Win7? Of course, you can't use Metro apps, but in
terms of actually using a computer, what does Win10
do that 7 doesn't?

Most software still supports XP, for that matter,
though that's been changing more recently. Firefox
dropped XP support in June. Adobe dropped it
at least a couple of years ago. And gamers, of
course, won't want to use XP. But obsolete means
too old to run what you need to use. XP isn't there
yet for most people. Win7 could conceivably outlast
Win10. (Edge is already obsolete, before it ever
really got off the ground, and due to be chromed.
And businesses have avoided Win10.)

If you use your computer mainly to play the latest
video games then Win7 might be obsolete for you.
I don't know. I don't use video games. But I can't
imagine what else might be a problem on Win7.

Maybe you're worried about support from MS?
Ironically, most versions of Win10 go out of support
before Win7 extended support ends:

And Win7 support is likely to be extended further.
Since it's currently about even with Win10 in terms
of usage, and since much of that usage is in
business, Microsoft might have to support it longer,
and/or come up with some kind of compromise that
lets business bypass spyware and forced updates
in Win10 more thoroughly.
