I got Verizon FIOS/optical phone/internet a few months ago and had no
trouble connecting the wifi printer to it. (It had been connected to
the DSL wifi router.)

The Verizon router wired connection failed (while the wifi continued to
work) and they sent me another one**.

On the Brother Multi-function Printer MFC-625DW, there is a touch screen
and I tried the Connection Wizard. I also pushed the Connect button on
the router (2 curved arrows in a circle) and the printer found the
router (that is, it displayed the Wi-Fi name) and it wanted the Key.
I took that to mean the WiFi password on the same sticker on the router
as had the Wifi name, and I entered that. The printer rejected it.
Twice. Even t hough I'm positive I typed it correctly the second time
and probably the first, fur099rag4486shone .

I thought that the first time I didn't even have to enter the password
so the next time, I scrolled farther down and found WPS/AOSS. I used
that and after a minute, it said it was connected.

The status key says it's Connected, signal is strong, infrastructure
mode.

But the printer doesn't show on the PC in the list of Devices and
Printers, and it's not offered as a printer choice when I want to print
something.

Have you (re)installed the printer on your PC? Normally, printer discovery
happens during printer installation, not when you're trying to print.

Does that mean I have to bring the printer into the room with the
computer so that a USB cable is long enough to connect them?

No, not at all. Just go to install a new printer and when the wizard asks
if the printer is local or networked, select the network option. The wizard
should scan for it and hopefully find it. The rest is straightforward.

When I first got FIOS, all I had to do was what I've done the last two
times today. Although that was when the win10 computer was in use.
I've never used this laptop with this printer, so I guess I do have to
install it. YOU'RE RIGHT! Does that mean I have to bring the printer
into the room with the computer so that a USB cable is long enough to
connect them?

No.
