Did you include the FTP service when you did the Win7 install?

Now that Win7 is already installed and since FTP was not included in a
custom install, you'll have to add it yourself.

- Control Panel - Programs - Programs and Features
- "Turn Windows features on or off" (left panel)
- Expand "Internet Information Services" node in the tree list.
- Decide what parts of the FTP features you want.

However, before you install the MS FTP *service*, first decide if that
is what you want versus an FTP client.

So I went to FileZilla where I am in the process of getting my pasty
white butt kicked.

That's an FTP client, *NOT* and FTP server. Above you asked about the
[FTP] *service*. Now you're talking about a client. So which one do
you really want?

I think he went there to get FileZilla Server, not the client. Hence he
mentioned "getting my pasty white butt kicked." (the client is so easy
to use - it must be server he's talking about eh). And he mentioned
server in the Sujb.

Mentioning a company name is not mentioning a product of theirs. This
is like saying "I have Comodo". Comodo WHAT? So readers without
details have to guess what product he got from the Filezilla company,
and the most used product of theirs in their GUI FTP client.

"FileZilla" without further qualification means "FileZilla Client". You
must add "Server", as in "FileZilla Server", if that is the *product*
you want to discuss.

Softpedia.com:
"FileZilla" (client): 281,161 downloads
"FileZilla Server": 53,121 downloads (19% of the client downloads)

Download.com:
"FileZilla" (client): 3,660,471 downloads
"FileZilla Server": 129,031 downloads (3.5% of the client downloads)

Not to hard to see which product is referenced by just "FileZilla". If
someone mentioned "Microsoft Windows", I doubt anyone would think the
speaker was mentioning the Microsoft HQ's glass windows on a building.

Read the other responses. I'm not the only one to whom it is unclear as
to what FTP program the OP is looking for.

Assuming the OP is trialing FileZilla Server, it that whips his butt
then I can't see another being any better for him. He should probably
ask specific questions on how to use FileZilla Server in their forums:
