Default How to disable Windows Defender

Can anyone recommend a good free anti-virus program that does what you tell
it to do regarding allowing what it considers a virus/malware but isn't?

Install an live, online, antimalware system, such as Kaspersky or Avast
or even McAfee or Norton. (Note: I do not recommend McAfee or Norton.)
Live systems scan your email, etc. on a live basis looking for what they
feel is malware. Offline systems, such as MalwareBytes, only scan on
demand. A live system, on being installed, will turn off Windows
Defender, or, rather, Windows Defender will detect it and turn itself
off. (Which suggests an interesting way to introduce malware, actually.
One wonders if Microsoft has thought of it. One doubts it. Microsoft is
not bright.) Offline systems will not cause Windows Defender to turn
itself off.

If you think that you need a firewall, that would require you to get a
system which includes a firewall. Serious 'security' systems will
include a firewall. Installing them will turn off the Windows firewall
as well as Windows Defender.

Please note that the intersection between cheap/free on the one hand and
actually worth a damn on the other is extremely small. Be prepared to
spend money, usually on an annual basis.

This machine is a company machine and has enterprise-level antimalware,
paid for by the company.

If you don't want to pay, seriously consider moving to Mac or Linux. The
malware threat level there is far lower than on Windows.
