Default Using my extra RAM for other things in an old, updated 32-bitXP Pro. SP3.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for this info but I am not using Win98. My present server is
Windows 2003 with 2MB ram. Sometimes in January, I expect to get a new
Dell Server with 16MB Ram running on Windows Server 2008 SP2 64 bit.

I was simply replying to "MyNews" but he replied back in his pigeon
English which I fail to understand and so out of politeness I decided
not to reply back.

For that case, you need to set up the MaxPhysPage thing. That
makes Win98 ignore the excess RAM present in the computer.
20000 = 512MB is a nice safe value. Between 512MB and 1GB,
you need to throw in the MaxFileCache thing too.

*******

C:\Windows\system.ini

[vcache]
MaxFileCache=524288 (or a lesser number if you want)

MaxPhysPage=20000
