Go to Administrative Tools - Services - and stop the firewall service. Also
change it so that startup is Manual rather than Automatic. Hope this helps.

So, your network is not connected to the internet? If that is the case,
you don't need a firewall. But having one won't make much difference.
If your network is connected to the internet, the fine folks over in
www.windowsxp.network_web advised me to use both.
