Default How to uninstall messenger

Greetings John,

If you mean Windows Messenger, click the Start button, then click Run and enter:
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
Then click OK.

If you mean Windows Live Messenger, assuming the latest version, click the Start button, then
click Run and enter:
msiexec /x {A85FD55B-891B-4314-97A5-EA96C0BD80B5}
Then click OK and choose Yes to the prompt.

I don't use messenger and a week ago, it installed automatically (even though I tell MS I
don't want automatic installs), and now it pops up all the time. Everytime i get into IE8
or outlook express or just boot up. I googled it, and the suggestions did not work. I
don't like messing with the registry but it seems that I must. Could someone hold my hand
and walk me through this. I don't hate microsoft but this sure makes me a little ticked at
them. I managed to find the box in outlook and unchecked it so outlook express isn't a
problem anymore but it still pops up all the time.

John
