I have a Canon MG 2220 printer.

I have having problems with my printouts having horizontal bands across them.

I have cleaned heads using CUPS.

I also just physically cleaned the printer heads.

There was a lot of ink and some was pooled on the bottom of printer.

I refill my cartridges.

Picture of printout is here.

It did not help.

Andy

It looks to me like some of the holes in the black cartridge are clogged up.

What holes do you mean?

I have used a hole on top to refill it, but that has nothing to do with how it prints.

And the banding occurs equally with color printing.

Andy

According to Canon your printer is an ink jet type.
Typical inkjet cartridges have tens to hundreds of holes that spray the liquid onto the
paper. The holes are just a few microns in diameter.
The colors on the the dropbox photo appear to be ok.
It's the black that is not spraying correctly.

Try a spraying / printing only one color at a time.
My guess is that pure c, m, y, will not have banding but pure black will.

I printed a black only test sheet.

It still has the banding.

Andy

I don't print color often and color lasers are expensive, even ones you can refill.

I have a B/W Canon laser printer that works great is is refillable.
