If its not too late, could you click the version tab in the Properties sheet
and compare the two?

I didn't even know there was a copy of the SP1 on my
computer.

I checked out the difference between what is in the SP
copy and in the Windows/system32 folder. The SP copy is
dated newer (12/3/02 compared to 11/27/02) and the SP copy
is 7.95 megs compared to 7.85 megs. I will copy the SP
copy over (after a backup of the current one) and see what
a reboot brings.

They're normal on my system, but that doesn't mean that

your version isn't
damaged. You can find a copy of the XP SP1 Shell32.dll

file in the
Windows\ServicePackFiles\I386 folder. You can backup

your original copy
that's in the Windows\System32 folder, if you wish, then

replace it with the
one in the Service Pack Files folder.

Yes I installed SP1 right after the upgrade to XP Pro. I
thought maybe the .dll was corrupted due to those

missing
icons in it already, but you said those were normal?

I'm still looking into this one The only thing

that
comes to mind is a
corrupt copy of Shell32.dll Have you installed SP1,
yet?

Ever since upgrading from '98 to XP, I've lost the
Control
Panel Icon. The "spot" for the icon is there, just

not
the
picture. Its missing from the quick launch shortcut I
made, its missing from the Explorer tree view, its
missing
from the "my computer" view as well as the Start
Menu/Settings. The text is there, just not
the picture. Anyone heard of this before?

Also, the "Printers and Faxes" icon is missing as

well.
The text is still there and I can access the

printers,
its
just the picture that is missing.

Very annoying and I've looked all through the

registry
with no luck. Any help? Thanks.
