Default WinXP's Power Management Issue

SNIP
Hi Ben,
I forgot to mention that I had already tried the BIOS settings, which I
set for the hard drive to stop after 20 minutes if idle. That didn't
work.
Rebooting into Win98 or real Dos mode (Windows not launched) is the only
solution I have found so far.

With WinXP launched (no AV aps) and nothing in MSCONFIG Startups,
and nothing running in the background except system related (Task Manager
list), the HD never stops spinning.
John

You might try disabling hard drive control in the BIOS. It could be that Windows
and the BIOS are fighting each for control of the drive.

Hi Ben,

I appreciate your suggestions, but now I would LOVE to hear from someone
who says something like, "I HAD THE SAME ISSUE, BUT I FIXED.......".

Thanks in advance, John
