Default Lost Web address

"Had it" - ? did you actually set a bookmark for the site ? The web
history isn't really persistent data and is subject to being reset when
the History max date is reached. ( Older data rolls off ). History is
also something that many security packages remove as part of their
cleanup procedures.
You be better off setting bookmarks on sites you may revisit and
not depend on the history data.

I didn't use google search to find the site - I had the address and as I
said
it has been lost.

Try looking it up in a google search? It has to have something on it
that you remember.

History only goes back two weeks and my memory goes back less.

What is the easiest way to retrieve a website that has been visited
but has since been lost?

Usually through the browser history feature. Or if you know part of the
address to type part of it in and hopefully the autocomplete feature
will list the matches.
