Why would Microsoft install Google Chrome? It was installed with
the latest 13 updates.

You are the only one in the world.

I thought Microsoft hated Google as much as I do.

Did you update Java ?

Did you use the wrong updater to do it ?

Oracle places "adware" in Java downloaders. You need
to find the "offline" updater, to help you avoid adware.

And the funny part is, I get reports like this in the
groups all the time, and when I try to reproduce them...
Oracle refuses to send me Google Chrome. I get other
stuff instead on offer. So I've never actually been
infected (as part of a test case), using Java. And I
can't figure out why I'm not a good target. There is
no Chrome on the machine, so my "scalp is worth a buck"
to Oracle.

I removed Java just after I got the computer. Maybe it's a Dell
update, but it must be set to automatic, because I didn't update it.
