Default HP 722C Printer Sharing

-----Original Message-----
Download the 98 drivers from the HP website at

http://tinyurl.com/9zhn (to
the XP PC!)

Expand them into a Temporary Folder (remember the

name!)..... if the install
automatically starts after the expansion, cancel it, it

wouldn't work on an
XP PC anyway, it should just tell you it's the wrong O/S.

On the XP PC, go into the Control Panel and click on

Printers & Faxes.
Right click on the printer and click the Sharing tab.

Ensure it's set for
sharing correctly. Just below this, there's a button

for Additional
Drivers. Click it. Put the check mark in the 98/ME box

and hit OK.... the
installer will look for the drivers (which it won't find

by itself)... point
it towards that temporary folder you just created and

they'll be installed.

Now go back to the 98 PC.....

Click to Add a Printer.... Add a A Network Printer....

it will be at
\\XPPC\xpprinter where XPPC is the name of the XP PC

and xpprinter is the
shared name of the printer on the XP PC.

Hope this helps

Hi. I see a lot of us are having fun with Windows XP.
I am trying to share an HP 722c printer which is
connected to my desktop running WinXp.Home Edition. I
upgraded the desktop to WinXp. I have a laptop running
Win98. Before the upgrade, I was sharing the printer

just
fine through my Linksys router. My laptop can see the
pc, folders and the printer but I cannot print over the
network from the laptop running Win98. The printer
prints fine directly from the pc with WinXp. I ran the
wizard on both computers. When I try to print a test
page from the laptop, nothing happens. If I try to
install a driver on the laptop (do I need one on the
laptop ?) the driver can't be found on the WinXp cd or

my
Win98 cd. Please advise. Thanks.

.
Thanks for your response. I forgot to mention when I try

to install Win98
additional driver on the desk top with XP, I get an
error
message indicating that the driver is not digitally
signed and cannot continue, will not install. The driver
is in disk 1 of 720C folder. The printer is properly
shared. The network printer seems to be installed ok on
the Win98 laptop. The printer is visible over the network
but I can't print to it. Also I get a prompt to set up
the printer before I can use it over the network but this
printer is not on the list. Thanks.
