Default Battery draining power in few seconds

Hello crowd, I've this recent problem with my laptop's battery which is if I
turn on the power in battery mode, the system boots up and immediately
hibernates because battery only holds power for a few seconds. I think this
system update issue because battery is old but it used to last about half
hour. The icon on tray is looking different too (That's why I suspect this
is an updating issue). Do you know a way to solve this besides buying a new
laptop or doing a fresh installation of system?

Thanks.

I had a similar problem. I replaced my laptop's battery.

Laptop batteries have a finite life, equivalent to about 1,000 full
charges. No need to replace the entire laptop when only the battery
needs replacing. If the battery itself is worn out (like mine was),
then it will not be fixed by doing a fresh installation of the system.
