G50-80 Laptop (Lenovo) - Type 80E5

That is my laptop.

The question I have is why usb ports do not work when I try to boot
using legacy bios?

Under legacy setting win 7 installed ok but there was no usb.
Installing drivers from Lenovo did not solve the problem.

I am just thinking it is a BIOS error or Lenovo did it on purpose to
prevent users trying to install earlier versions of Windows

I remember a friend's Acer laptop that when I installed Windows 10 on
it in legacy BIOS mode had the touchpad not functioning.

I was installing this way because my Windows 10 install usb flashdrive
was generated in a way it was not visibile at boot in UEFI BIOS mode.

Then I found the proper way to build the Windows 10 usb install flash
drive.

Installing Windows 10 in UEFI BIOS mode made the problem disappearing.

You can try the same with Windows 7.

If you have the ISO for your Windows 7 Ultimate installation then you
can use Rufus to create a bootable USB flashdrive from your ISO.
If you don't have it, is easy to find it online.

Download Rufus portable so you don't need to install anything.

If you plan to create a USB flashdrive able to boot on a system with a
UEFI BIOS remember to choose FAT32 as "File system" and "GPT partition
scheme for UEFI" as "Partition scheme and target system type", like
shown on the Rufus home page.

(For legacy style BIOS choose NTFS instead of FAT32 and choose "MBR
partition scheme for BIOS or UEFI".)

Take a look also at the following guide, expecially OPTION ONE:

How to Create a Bootable UEFI USB Flash Drive for Installing Windows
7, Windows 8, or Windows 8.1
