If you want to use the rescue CD, then having
it first would help.

Having the CD first is a good choice as a general
practice anyway. The prompt that appears on the
screen "press any key to boot", can be used as
a selector (if you don't press a key, it falls
through to the next item in the list, which
could be a hard drive).
