Everything will work fine if your restart in Safe Mode with Networking. You do this by pressing F8 when starting the computer and then selecting Safe Mode with Networking. Until someone finds a solution to this problem I'm having my friend use Safe Mode.
I'm hoping a reformat and reinstall will not be needed.
