It's because

1.some of the programs I use most frequently are DOS programs.
2. I'm a pensioner and can't afford to keep buying new hardware
3. I don't like the schlepp of setting up a new machine and
reinstalling sdoftware

For security I use Avast antivistus
Stick to plain text e-mail
Avoid phishing scams
Use NoScript
