Default Default Browser & Default Search Settings

wrote in message

MIcrosft has joined the sneaky" baggage added "
installers. Yesterday on Win 7 machine I downloaded
Microsoft's "Defender (presumably an anti virus anti
malware tool) With the download, MS set IE as the
default search engine.
So now if I go (via a HTTP shortcut ) to Google --I first
get IE which in turn calls Google from within IE !
Annoying !! So my questions"
Where in the registry is the setting(s) for default
browser? And where is the setting(s) for default search
engine?? If I can find those I'll edit them back to
what I want!

Since you have been involved with computers for so long I am surprised that
you think that Internet Explorer is a "search engine". It isn't. It is a
browser.

To change the things you want to change there is no need to screw up your
registry, just do it in the same old way; namely, via Internet Options.
