Setup PC1 to share a folder.
Not Simple to do. Dos anyone have a program to expedite this ?

But was able to see PC1 on PC2 in my network places.
So I found a subfolder there I wanted to use and mounted it as a drive
letter on PC1.

I copied 5 large files successfully. I had to log into PC1 from a
window on PC2. It was the usual login if at PC1.

I fiddled for an hour or two elsewhere and went to copy more files but
it was not allowed to copy or even look at the folders in my network
places from PC2.

I went to PC3 and easily copied files from there to PC1.
I think PC1 and PC3 are the same homegroup.

What happened to disallow working from PC2 to PC1 ?

I've found the real trick for sharing is Adding "Everyone" to the list
of people to share with when creating the share. If you also turn off
"Password Protected Sharing" under "Advanced ..." options in "Network
and Sharing Center" you can then easily access a folder from any pc
without any extra bullpoop. That's assuming they all are using same
"Workgroup" and DHCP server is same for them all or hardwired knowing
enough to do that properly. My IP cam uses an assigned IP addy outside
routers DHCP assigned addresses, All pc's get IP from router. I have
every pc on ethernet in house share a "Temp" folder where "Everyone" can
Read or Write to it. Other folders serving media thruout network have
"Read Only" instead but all have "Everyone" added to list. I have no
issues with XP/W7 mix, no Win10 here using multipule pcs sharing
multipule drives.

P.S. There's a small MS download available so XP pc's show up in Win7's
"Network Map" display.
