I mean a straight line. The pencil and brush tools
will do a random line. Personally I don't find that
useful because a mouse or trackball just isn't precise
enough. It wiggles.

both can do a straight line. click at the startpoint and with shift key
down, click at the endpoint. it's also not unique to the gimp.
