Tried un/reinstalling the sound card.
What I've further discovered is after removing WMP the problem
disappears in the other apps - Pinnacle Studio and Kmedia player.
There were posts about a similar problem and WMP may do what you
describe because of the codecs and the way WMP uses them? I didn't pay
much attention because I use Media Player Classic Home Cinema instead of
WMP. You might try is to see if your problem is fixed that way.
