[About Android apps:]

For example, if I uninstall K-9, will all my email disappear too, or
will it be there when I reinstall K-9. Apparently that doesn't happen
with windows email programs, although I'm still always scared that it
will (so I almost never uninstall anyhthing, even in Windows.)

If, in Manage apps, you tap 'Uninstall' and do *not* tap 'Clear data',
the app's data and settings should still be there when the app is
re-installed. Of course the app could destroy that data when it starts
the first time after re-installation, but it's unlikely that an app
would do that.

Thanks. That makes perfect sense. Next time I'll tell someone in the
original situation to clear the data.

N.B. Note my use of 'should' above. As in: There should be world
peace.
