Default no outgoing Audio and Video

Hi Gary,

There really shouldn't be any "important" entry in there (unless you've set up a port
forwarding manually yourself) that won't be readded by a reboot/restarting the program.
Messenger should automatically add them when it requires them. Unfortunately a number of
routers only have a small number of possible UPnP port forwardings, and as such, by
"cleaning" them out, you allow it to readd the necessary ones the next time Messenger is
loaded.

I followed ur instructions below (disabled
firewall/deleted msnmsgr/msnmsgs). I also deleted by
mistake an entry called "windows" afterwhich i couldn't
get an audio/video connection with another XP user. Went
thru wizard and mic/sound check out as ok; as does the
other XP user. I'm behind a Linksys router which is uPNP
enabled. What settings should there be in the INTERNET
GATEWAY PROPERTIES? Thanks, Gary

Greetings,

I don't believe the problem is on your side, most likely

since your contact isn't receiving
you, something on their side is blocking it. Tell them

to do the following:
Make sure that the Internet Connection Firewall hasn't

turned on, click Start, then
click the Control Panel. If you're in category view

click Network and Internet connections
then click Network Connections. Right click your

network/internet connection, then click
Properties. Click the Advanced Tab, and verify that the

Internet Connection Firewall is
unchecked.
If you're using a router (UPnP enabled), remove the

current port forwardings -- to do so,
click Start, All Programs, Accessories, Communications,

Network Connections. Right-click the
"Internet Gateway" (should be under the Internet Gateway

heading) and choose Properties.
Choose the Settings button, click each 'msmsgs'

or 'msnmsgr' entry and then choose 'Delete'
to each one. Then close Messenger (right-click the

Messenger icon, choose Exit), then restart
Messenger and try a voice/video conversation again.

Finally, both of you should run through the Audio/Video

Tuning Wizard (click the Tools menu
in the main Messenger window, then Audio Tuning Wizard).
