K-Meleon 1.5.4 needs comctl32.dll version 5.80 or later. The
comctl32.dll update for Win9x/Me is no longer available for
download. Without the update, you can experience problems with
menus not displaying in K-Meleon 1.5.4.

Thanks, I eventually installed Opera 7.0.1,one of the latest to
still support Win9x.
