I have attached my Dell Laptop running XP Professional., SP2, to my
home
office network. The Dell is attached to a router, which in turn
connects to
an enthernet hub. There is a HP Laserjet 4050 printer attached to
the hub,
and a Mac G4 running OS X 10.3.6 is attached to the router. the Mac
can access the shared folder on the Dell, but the dell cannot find the
Mac or the printer.

Any ideas what I have to do the get XP to play nicely with others?

You need to run Samba on the Mac. Samba configuration on the Mac is very
easy. Make sure you've created identical user accounts/passwords on
both computers and shared out desired resources. Set permissions on the
shared resources the way you want.

What is Samba? Wherre do I get it?

You're saying that both the Mac and the PC must have identical user
accounts set up? Does that mean another user will still not be able to see
files on the other machine?

How does this address the problem of the XP machine not being able to see
the HP laser printer?

Thanks.
