There have been plenty of instances in the past where router manufacturers have introduced
ALG bugs by trying to rewrite Messenger's protocol. However, it's been awhile since I've
heard of one.
So, what you're saying is that you're not actually logging in from multiple locations?
Instead, the message just appears and your VPN drops? Could it be that you've merely had
your connection drop and because you're going through the tunnel, when Messenger
automatically tries to reconnect, it still thinks you're logged on from somewhere else?

Granted I cannot cite any evidence of causation, but the 100% coincidence
has got to suggest something. Other Internet activity happens on the local
machine that does not impact the VPN. Yes, there is a LinkSys router sitting
behind my cable modem, but I checked for firmware upgrades anbout 8 weeks or
so ago and found it up-to-date.
And, trying to read through all the layers of your post, it is NOT the case
that I am logging into WLM from any computer with the VPN up on the computer
in question. The WLM stub is running from Start and I am logged in. I have
no idea what schedule or events trigger the notification.
Any suggestions ? Any place else to inquire, research or post ?

likely the change in the protocol as the result of the change of logging into the other
session.
I really have nothing specific to suggest, but I am curious if there's a router involved
here. If so, as a starting point, make sure it's updated to the latest firmware.
Also, can you reconnect to the VPN after it drops?

I don't really care about being notified that I am signed into WLM from 2
places and have tried to suppress the notification. Taht doesn't seem to
work, but that is not really my problem. EVERY time I receive that
notification, if I am working in an active VPN connection, the VPN is
dropped. So, (1) what should be 'fixed' so it doesn't drop, and/or (2) how
can I at least achieve the workaround of suppressing notifications ? Any
chance this is an issue of packet meddling by my access provider ?
