I have Win XP SP3 and am in the process of migrating
folders and files to my new WIn7 Pro desktop. Most all
the transfers have gone without any problems; however
when I try to transfer my family history folder with
multtiple subfolders, files and copies of emails and
photos I am unable to either move or copy this folder to
a CD or thumb drive. I get a popup error message that
tells me I cannot copy or move it.

I have tried easy transfer, dragging and dropping and
copy and paste and none have worked?

I would really like to be able to save this folder with
my years of family history searches, but seem to have hit
a brick wall.

Can anyone suggest a way to move or copy this folder.


Does the size of the folder exceed the capacity of the media to which you
want to copy it? If so - or even if not - copy it in smaller portions.

If the error is that the path(s) are too long, simplify the folder
structure, then copy.
