Default XP "Send To" folder not working

John,

It does show some other items that I have added but no longer shows
"Notepad" (though it did at one time) or any other newly added items!!

That it shows some of your(!) items but not others is rather strange, and
makes me, just like JJ, suspect that you might be looking at the wrong "send
to" folder(s).

Suggestion: go to your {username}'s "send to" folder, find an item
(preferrably a shortcut) that you can see in a file/folders context-menu
"send to" entry, and move it outof the "send to" folder to another one (do
*not* delete it, you want to move it back after the test).

After that open the context menu of a file or folder and see if the item has
gone from the menus "send to" entry there. If not see if the same item
exists in the "Default User" "send to" folder, also move it outof there and
than check again.

If its still there you probably are not looking at (and changing!) the
correct "send to" folder.

Also check the
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders\SendTo" and
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders\SendTo" keys. The first one should contain the full expanded
path to your "Send To" folder, the latter one "%USERPROFILE%\SendTo"

Hope that helps.

Regards,
Rudy Wieser

P.s.
At my end both the {your name}and "Default User" SendTo folders have the
ReadOnly and Hidden flags set, and they contain "desktop.ini" files with the
System and Hidden flags set.
