Default homepage is hijacked

Archie,

about:blank, if used correctly as a Home Page, is just that; Blank.
Not Microsoft, not anywhere, just a white window with about: blank in the
Address Bar. In fact some people use about: blank as a Home Page because
you can open IE without it trying to go online.

First. Make sure of these settings and nothing will install without you
answering YES. (Except what may install as part of some other software.)

Start | Settings | Control Panel | Internet Options | Advanced tab |
Make sure both of these are NOT checked.

Enable Install On Demand (Internet Explorer)
[[Specifies to automatically download and install Internet Explorer
components if a Web page needs them in order to display the page properly or
perform a particular task.]]

 Enable Install On Demand (Other)
[[Specifies to automatically download and install Web components if a Web
page needs them in order to display the page properly or perform a
particular task.]]

Apply | OK

Second. If you need a scan right now.

Third.
It is known as Scumware. Visit these sites. 1, 2, 3 and 4 are really good.
Download, install, run, update and run again; one or all. They are all
good, FREE utilities.

Run CWShredder first!!!

1) CWShredder direct download:

2) SpywareBlaster
[[SpywareBlaster doesn't scan and clean for spyware - it prevents it from
ever being installed.
The most important step you can take is to secure your system. And
SpywareBlaster is the most powerful protection program available.]]

3) Spybot S & D

In ,
archie hunted and pecked:
my home page is likewise hijacked. I have used spybot and Ad-aware
with no results. I have gone to Ctl Panelinternet optionsinternet
propertieshome page and the only button that responds is "use
blank." Although the replacement home page looks like microsoft,
there is no address to confirm or deny. The only thing I know is
that is permanent and irreplacable. I have tried everything I know
of and am at wit's end. If you get any information please forward
it. May I thank you in advance.
