First, my apologies to the group for being such a
nuisance.

I've always (literally always in terms of PCs) had good
access to the computer. Directories, program listings
with locations, etc. etc.

Now I'm in the midst of trying to learn both Win 7 (my
new computer) and Win 8 (my wife's new computer) and the
lack of access to stuff has gotten to me.

So to annoy you more I guess, two questions:
1) Is there anything like the "MyComputer" listing in
XP et al ?

People - including me - have already told you that there is. That's
assuming that by "My Computer" you mean the file management listing of
drives, files and folders. If you can't find it, push the Win key + "E",
just like always.

What are you telling me? "the Win key + "E" ---" ?
Win Key ??
What do you mean with the "+" ?
Are you saying press "+" followed by "E" ?

The Windows key has a logo emblazoned on it.

And, it's next to some other familiar modifier keys.

There are various ways to signify key sequences, but
usually what will happen, is the first key or keys are
modifier keys, and the last one is a "regular" key.

ctrl-alt-delete

In that example, you press and hold ctrl, press and
hold alt, then press and release Delete. Releasing
ctrl and alt later, in any order, at your leisure.

So the above might be put in a USENET post as

win-e
win-e
insert_some_other_shorthand...

and that would be press and hold win logo key,
then type an "e". Release win afterwards, at
your leisure.
