But wouldn't your diagram be altered by the addition of an external jack
to connect powered speakers? If the jack was shorting because of
vibration (so the internal speakers get cut off), perhaps more shaking
on a reboot (hard disk head bouncing) might shake out the short. I'd
get a pair of headphones and plug into the external jack to see if they
suddenly cut out on a "bump", too.


I think plugging in headphones is a worthwhile test, also.
