Office 2007 was the one that introduced the ribbon bar.

When I was developing ad-hoc Access apps for bond traders (who were using
Office 2003 at the time), people would tell me "If the new app involves my
having to use Office 2007, just forget it...".

I think the Ribbon Bar was the primary culprit.
