I have two usb 3.0 storage drives one is a 2 tb and the other is a 500
gb drive a couple of days ago the 500 gb stopped showing up I have
looked in places in that my limited computer knowledge places on the
laptop. The drive is just not seen anywhere. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks Farmer

Download a copy of "Drive Cleanup v 1.1.0" by Uwe Sieber, from his website:

http://www.uwe-sieber.de/drivetools_e.html

You must run this from a command prompt with administrative privileges. Read the instructions!

It will remove all orphaned USB drives and will most likely enable your machine to recognize the problematic
drives. Reboot the machine after running this utility.

If you have questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks to all who posted about my missing drive but nothing seem to work
I guess the drive is bad I will contact
and return it both drives were purchased from Dell. Thanks again
Farmer

Did you try them in a different machine?

No that's the only thing I have not tried the only other computer I have
is a very old laptop that computer does not have usb 3.0 but I will try
it anyway
Thanks Framer

You can also take them to your local computer store and plug them into one of the display models. Some of the
display machines could be locked down, but maybe not. I would be shocked if both drives were defective unless
you dropped them both into the toilet or your pet elephant stepped on them.

Another VERY simple thing to try would be to start your machine from a Linux livecd, plug in the drives and
see if they are recognized. If they are recognized, you will know you have a Windows issue that must be
resolved.

Norman only one of the drives is bad the 2tb drive works great all my
backup's are on that drive just the 500 gb drive is bad. As far as a
local computer store I live in a very small town in southern Virginia
the nearest computer store is 100 miles away. I'll call Dell support
tomorrow I pay for premium technical support they have been so far very
good at fixing things,
Thanks Farmer
