Thanks to all who posted about my missing drive but nothing seem to
work
I guess the drive is bad I will contact
and return it both drives were purchased from Dell. Thanks again

If there were data on the drive you need, Dell will not retrieve it for
you and it will be lost...

If that's the case I'd install it internally on your computer...there is
perhaps a 50% chance the drive itself is good...it could just as well be
the electronics or the power brick

OTOH: If there is no data on it you need and it's still under
warranty...then yes...return it. If you open the drive the warranty
would be void.

The drive that doesn't work was purchased in March 2015 it's still under
warranty and the laptop I am using is new so I really don't want to take
either one apart with my limited computer knowledge.
Thanks Farmer

OK'

if it's a laptop it would be very unlikely you'd be able to install a
2nd drive ...only once have I seen a laptop with a 2nd HD bay.

Desktop...no problem

Well been on the phone with dell support for an hour and finally the
drive is working as one mention here the drive had lost it's drive
letter so after an hour and the support guy taking control of the
computer reinstalling drivers and testing many things it works.
Thanks all who helped me here with computer verbiage.
