We've had issues with Fujitsu's Display Manager; I basically recommend
not to use those. As for your problem, if you've uninstalled it then it
should no longer be moving windows around; just re-position the windows
and close/restart the programs. Unless these programs have some sort of
registry keys for constantly positioning their windows (unlikely,) and
providing you've re-enabled "open at last position" settings in said
programs, you shouldn't have issues (tho I'd be surprised if DDM messed
with program settings at all.)

Thanks, appreciate your reply. And I do indeed wish I'd not installed
DDM ;-(

But it's baffling that after uninstalling it the issue remained. Here's
a more detailed explanation of the problem:

It seems that on re-powering the display, even when DDM had been closed,
or uninstalled, the monitor uses whatever the last saved preset layout
was in place. Rather than reverting to the OS settings.

Dell Display Manager is an "OEM" software written by EntechTaiwan.com.
Makers of Powerstrip and Moninfo.

Apparently, there is a support address for the Dell OEM product.

Maybe you can ask them whether there is any way to return
the machine to the state before DDM got installed. They are
known for having good tech support (likely developer class
people). You won't get a "drone reading from a script"
to draft a reply to your query. I'm sure the DDM product
has driven their support issues through the roof :-)

Thanks Paul, an email was going to be my next step so you've saved me a
search.

Duly emailed.

I've now gone one step further and in Device Manager reverted to the
built-in Microsoft generic drive. I'd have given good odds that would
fix it - and lost my cash.

Apart from an SR I can't think of anything else to try, and I'm
reluctant to do that as it might affect other stuff.
