Anyone here with a Dell Monitor and using its additional software 'Dell
Display Manager' (DDM)?

I recently bought the 24" Dell U2514 monitor and am happy with it apart
from the DDM. I prefer to manage the size and position of open windows
myself (and have various macros to assist). I couldn't find any way to
stop DDM rearranging my windows every time I enabled the monitor, even
by closing it from its tray icon. So I uninstalled it (thoroughly, using
Revo Uninstaller).

But windows of various apps are *still* appearing at some previous size
and position that I must have set during my early experimenting a few
days ago. Can't see how that can occur.

Bottom line: I want my windows to remain at whatever settings they were
in when last used, but I'm stumped how to return to that normal state.

We've had issues with Fujitsu's Display Manager; I basically recommend
not to use those. As for your problem, if you've uninstalled it then it
should no longer be moving windows around; just re-position the windows
and close/restart the programs. Unless these programs have some sort of
registry keys for constantly positioning their windows (unlikely,) and
providing you've re-enabled "open at last position" settings in said
programs, you shouldn't have issues (tho I'd be surprised if DDM messed
with program settings at all.)

Regards,

Thanks, appreciate your reply. And I do indeed wish I'd not installed
DDM ;-(

But it's baffling that after uninstalling it the issue remained. Here's
a more detailed explanation of the problem:

It seems that on re-powering the display, even when DDM had been closed,
or uninstalled, the monitor uses whatever the last saved preset layout
was in place. Rather than reverting to the OS settings.

Is there a "Restore to Defaults" (or similar wording) option in the
monitor's OSD? On my Asus monitor, under System Setup, there's an "All
Reset" option.
Maybe that would clear whatever memory setting the monitor may have.
(Clutching at straws, LOL!)

Thanks, yes, I'm pretty sure there was and that I tried it without
success. But if I don't get an email reply from Dell soon I'll reinstall
both the driver and DDM and check that again.

Just removed and replaced the power and the mini DPort ('mDP') cables
and also restored to 'Factory Default Settings' via the on-screen
display menu. Still getting that same memorised layout on every restart.

FWIW, the Agent window was at 0,0 size 1441 x 1172
On restart that becomes 2,2 size 1022 x 736
The folder window was at 1440,0 size 480 x 1172
On restart that becomes 1020,0 size 480 x 738

Have not yet reinstalled the DDM.
