Default SP2 what a bunch of @#$!!!

I find it odd that Steve is "Techie" enough to frequent MS NGs & even knows
how to cross-post, but apparently hasn't bothered reading any SP2 related
posts.

MS could have done all that, and it would have been completely ignored.

I wouldn't have ignored it and I think I am not alone. So far, to get
the true picture, you need to go to over 20 MS web sites and read
countless messages on these two newsgroups.

Most of the people who are having issues are the kind of folks that
don't read the installation instructions, website precaution
statements, etc.

Of course, most people are not techies like I said. Most people want to
-- of all things -- *use* their computer, not maintain, configure and
troubleshoot it. What "installation instructions"? Most people get one
instruction: enable AU.

They do not know how to,

Like I said, most people who own computers are not techies and, you're
right, they don't know how. MS should have provided ONE web site with
instructions.

or are too lazy to keep their system running
properly. If they put as much energy into troubleshooting as they do
in blaming and flaming MS, they would have fixed their problems.

Do you think that one has a computer so one can have the pleasure of
troubleshooting or do you think one has a computer to *use* it?

Well, it seems like you just dont know how to upgrade an OS.

How many non techies do? Not many. How many non techies are there who
use XP
compared to techies? A million to one? MS should have provided step by
step
instructions on ONE web site. They should have had a link to it on WU
with the recommendation that one print it. But what do they do? The
recommend AU
and, surprise, surprise, non techies have problems.

On the bright side, it will give the techies lots of work.
