I have XP Sp3, Internet Explorer V8.
I use Firefox for browsing & never use IE.
I use a desktop computer, which has an AT&T modem connected to the
computer using an ethernet connection.
The modem provides wireless connection to AT&T DirectTV

I tried once unsuccessfully to establish a Wifi connection to the modem.

Is it even possible to set up Wifi on an XP computer?

If so, can someone provide a tutorial?

Thanks

WiFi works fine on XP. Once it sees the WiFi adapter you should have a
WiFi icon on the task bar, click that, start a scan for sites select
the one you want, enter the password and off you go.

That's for setting up a wifi connection _from_ the computer to the
modem/router.

If, in contrast, you're wanting to keep your ethernet connection to the
modem/router (which I would, unless you have a good reason not to), but
are wanting to set up (turn on?) the wifi capabilities of the
modem/router, maybe so you can use it with a smart TV, smartphone, or
similar: then you need to get into the modem/router's control interface.
Usually this is done via a browser - any browser will do, on XP (or even
earlier I think). If you've still got (or can download) the MoDem's
handbook, it'll tell you the URL to use, but if not, try
http://192.168.1.0, or 192.168.0.1, or ...0.0, or ...1.1, or 10.0.0.2 -
one of those five should work. You'll get what looks like a web page, but
with the logo of the manufacturer (i. e. AT&T) at top left, and should be
able to click through "links" until you get to where you set up the wifi
(turn it on, name it, and determine what encryption, and the key). If at
some point it asks you for a login and password, try admin and password,
or admin and admin. (These - and the URL, for that matter - may be on a
label on the back or bottom of the MoDem.)

I read that somewhere before, but no such icon exists.
