Default I386 Folder - Safe to Delete?

C:\ServicePackFiles\i386 is were SP1 stores the drivers. That is were =
Windows=20
stores the drivers so you don't need the CD when performing a repair or=20
System File Check. It would not be wise to delete this directory.

| Thanks Rick - much appreciated - If I have my original XP CD, can I =
delete
| this folder safely then re-download the SP??
|=20
| Alternatively, can I burn the c:\I386 onto a CD?
|=20
| Altrenative 2, have I, in some way, mis-applied some service pack to =
create
| this directory? I did another check on Technet but figured that I =
followed
| everything correctly.

| Kind regards to you nick for your very helpful advice.

| Hi Cindy,
|=20
| Leave that folder alone. It contains your backup system files, likely =
placed
| on the hard drive so that you can access them if needed by your system
| makers recovery software. If you need to replace a system file, or if =
one is
| needed to be added to the system, you will need that folder, as the =
files in
| the recovery software are not likely to be directly accessible =
otherwise.
| SP1 does not replace ALL system files, just certain ones.
