After booting my computer, I dropped my WindowsXP disk into the
drive and got a messsage that said something like, "Your existing
version is newer than the version on the disk..." (I'm
paraphrasing). The XP disk includes SP2, I have installed SP3. I
presume that's what the message means.

I tells me to reboot by computer using the boot disk. My question,
"Can I run a repair installation from the boot disk?"

I don't want to do anymore damage than I already have.


Create a new CD based off the one you have with SP3 integrated.

You can do an Internet Search for more details. Some keywords that might
help you discover the step-by-step instructions (or a tool to do it for you)
would include:

"Windows XP", slipstream, integrate, "service pack", autostreamer, nLite
