One interesting thing about win8 & metro apps (games) is that the metro
games don't have an "exit/close"; have to use the OS to close the apps
just like most of those on a tablet.

In addition to Juan's suggestion.
- Also moving the mouse or swiping to the upper left corner reveals open
apps and applications with a close option.

I've been using the upper left corner & tried the "pull down" of the
app. However, both methods use the OS (win8) to close the apps &
NOT within an app selection itself. It's like using the ctrl-C to kill
an app in unix/linux or even using the "kill" (ps -9 ...). And that
reminds me to check if the free ms pstools will work on win8
when the task manager won't respond.

Some early versions of Firefox for the android tablet had a "quit"
button/selection but somehow the "quit" was removed in the later
& current versions; someone made an add-on plugin to have the
"quit" re-instated.

I only have 1 metro app on the win8 laptop & have read an interesting
thread on the android newsgroup where the apps take up resources
since they aren't closed & only "out-of-sight". Just wonder if the
metro apps will do the same in win8 & win8.1 since the OS is being
done to follow how the tablet works.
